Basketball Recap: Central Florida Christian Academy Eagles vs. Trinity Catholic Celtics
After flying high against Lake Minneola last Tuesday, Central Florida Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Central Florida Christian Academy Eagles took a 47-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trinity Catholic Celtics. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Celtics apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Trinity Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brionie Leahmon out in front who went 5 of 8 en route to 13 points and six assists. Another player making a difference was Ja'Niya Corbin, who posted 12 points.
Central Florida Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Trinity Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Central Florida Christian Academy and Trinity Catholic should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Central Florida Christian Academy (ranked 42nd) will meet Colonial (ranked 191st) at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Similarly, Trinity Catholic will challenge Dunnellon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday up 220 places (61 vs. 281).
