Baseball Recap: Lucas' Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lucas). They put the hurt on the Mansfield Christian Flames with a sharp 13-1 win on Tuesday. While the Cubs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Jaden Shaulis was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bobby Grover, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Lucas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Lucas, bringing their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Mansfield Christian, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Looking ahead, Lucas will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Plymouth at 5:00 p.m. As for Mansfield Christian, they will head out to take on Vanlue at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
