Basketball Recap: Gateway's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Aurora Central, Gateway was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 55-44 victory over the DSST: Montview Knights. For the Olympians, this counts as revenge for the 38-32 win the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why DSST: Montview lost, don't look at Sa'Veyah Rogers. Despite the final result, she shot 46% from the field en route to 31 points and four steals. That was a full 70.5% of the Knights' points, marking the fifth time in a row Rogers has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Seira Acosta, who scored seven points.

With the victory, Gateway broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-6. As for DSST: Montview, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Gateway will head out to face off against Thornton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for DSST: Montview, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Denver West at 6:00 p.m.
