Softball Game Preview: Muhlenberg County Mustangs vs. Hopkinsville Tigers

The Muhlenberg County Mustangs will head out to challenge the Hopkinsville Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Muhlenberg County fell victim to Caldwell County and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 7-0 to the Tigers. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Mustangs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Hopkinsville strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Trigg County as they made off with a 16-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 11 matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Hopkinsville's victory was their 25th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.6 runs over those games. As for Muhlenberg County, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.

Muhlenberg County might still be hurting after the 19-0 loss they got from Hopkinsville when the teams last played back in April. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
