Baseball Game Preview: McKinley Tech Trainers vs. Eastern Ramblers

The McKinley Tech Trainers will head out to square off against the Eastern Ramblers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. McKinley Tech is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season.

McKinley Tech's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Ballou 14-0. The Trainers have beaten the Knights the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Knights has come to flipping the script.

Coby Diediker was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs. McKinley Tech is 5-1 when Diediker posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise. Jake Kaleneke was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

McKinley Tech was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .750. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Eastern didn't have quite enough to beat Northwestern on Saturday and fell 12-11.

Lucas Campbell was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Asa Roessner, who earned one RBI, two runs, and five stolen bases.

McKinley Tech's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Eastern, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10-1 record this season.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. McKinley Tech has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 13.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Eastern struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
