I Sunrise - Southeast recap November 19, 2013

Liberty extended the longest winning streak in I Sunrise - Southeast this week by beating Canyon Springs, 24-21. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Patriots.

Liberty and the Pioneers played the most contested game in the league this week, with Liberty eventually emerging with a 24-21 victory. Tyler Newman threw for 294 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 16 yards during the win.

Rich Muraco's team's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Tyler Parvin contributed 47 yards. Noah Jefferson helped Liberty's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 66 yards.

He went 17-34 with 1 interception.

Newman put up the best numbers through the air as the Patriots bested Canyon Springs. Newman's favorite target this week was Deseon Mcquaig, who caught 8 passes for 163 yards.

6-foot-0 quarterback Newman of Liberty is the league leader in passing yards this season with 3,391. He has also thrown 37 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is David Persi. The Foothill star has 57 catches for 1,003 yards.

The Patriots' Mcquaig needs only 49 receiving yards against Green Valley to crack 1,000 for the season. So far this year, he has acheived 48 catches for 951 yards.

Liberty made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,506 from 2,025. The improvement was the result of a 24-21 victory over Hunkie Cooper's team last week.
