Softball Recap: Brown County Has No Trouble Against Augusta Southeastern

Brown County's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-8 margin over the Augusta Southeastern Suns. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Suns: they've now won four in a row.

Jamie Loehr was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lilly Ham, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Brown County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Brown County's victory bumped their record up to 6-18. As for Augusta Southeastern, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

Brown County will take on Camp Point Central at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Augusta Southeastern, they will challenge Illini West at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
