Basketball Recap: Van Buren Comes Up Short

Van Buren was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 19th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Central Aroostook Panthers and fell 89-26. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Panthers are ranked 47th).

Van Buren's defeat dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Central Aroostook, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Van Buren will welcome East Grand at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Van Buren is facing East Grand at the right time seeing as East Grand is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Central Aroostook, they will head out on the road to take on Hodgdon at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Aroostook knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Hodgdon likes a good challenge.
