Recap: Crescent Loggers vs. Non Varsity Opponent
The Crescent Loggers came tearing into Wednesday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 39-37 win over Non Varsity Opponent. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Crescent has posted yet this season.
Crescent's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ciara Cargo-Acosta led the charge by scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and five blocks. Cargo-Acosta is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Audrey Gales was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight blocks and seven assists.
Crescent pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Non Varsity Opponent, their loss dropped their record down to 80-130.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crescent will take on Clallam Bay at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Non Varsity Opponent won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Clovis Christian at 8:00 a.m. on January 11th. Clovis Christian's defense has only allowed 20.8 points per game this season, so Non Varsity Opponent's offense will have their work cut out for them.
