Basketball Game Preview: Cape Elizabeth Capers vs. Leavitt Hornets

The Cape Elizabeth Capers will challenge the Leavitt Hornets on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Cape Elizabeth came up short against Portland and fell 78-71. While losing is never fun, the Capers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 30th).

Meanwhile, Leavitt had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 63-56 win over the Black Bears.

Cape Elizabeth has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Leavitt, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Things could have been worse for Cape Elizabeth, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-49 loss to Leavitt when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Cape Elizabeth avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
