Baseball Recap: Pace Comes Up Short

Pace had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 8-17 to make it five. They came up short against the Rivera Raiders, falling 14-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-6 on Tuesday.

Pace saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Solis, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

As for Rivera, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 21-4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

On Rivera's side, Marcos Guerrero and Andres Rocha made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Guerrero tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rocha pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Guerrero has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Guerrero went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Rocha went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run. Those four RBI gave Guerrero a new career-high.

In other batting news, Enrique Rey was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Gilbert Cantu was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Coming up, Pace will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Mercedes at 7:00 p.m. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Rivera, they will head out to face off against La Villa at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
