Baseball Recap: Freeport Bulldogs vs. Fort Walton Beach Vikings
After only one run in their last contest, Freeport made sure to put some runs up on the board against Fort Walton Beach on Thursday. The Freeport Bulldogs blew past the Fort Walton Beach Vikings 10-0. While the Bulldogs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Caleb Hoogewerf made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hoogewerf was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Xavier Chambliss looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Ryan Darrow was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Rem Sullivan also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Freeport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Walton Beach only posted an OBP of .333.
