Basketball Recap: Hayesville Yellowjackets vs. Summit Charter Bears
Hayesville won the last time they faced Summit Charter, and Ava Shook did her part to make sure it happened again. The Hayesville Yellowjackets took down the Summit Charter Bears 52-35 on Wednesday thanks in part to Shook, who went 7 for 14 to rack up 19 points along with five rebounds and five steals. What's more, she also posted a 56% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024.
Another player making a difference was Bryleigh Krieger, who posted five points and eight boards. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.
Despite the loss, Summit Charter saw an underclassman step up: freshman Olivia Reeves scored 19 points. Reeves has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Victoria Clement was another key player, putting up four points in addition to seven rebounds and four blocks.
