Basketball Game Preview: R.J. Reynolds Demons vs. Mount Tabor Spartans

The R.J. Reynolds Demons will head out to take on the Mount Tabor Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for R.J. Reynolds and four for Mount Tabor.

Last Wednesday, R.J. Reynolds lost to Reagan at home by a 60-43 margin. While losing is never fun, the Demons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 398th, while the Raiders are ranked 158th).

Meanwhile, Mount Tabor came up short against Forsyth Country Day on Thursday and fell 44-34.

R.J. Reynolds will have to contain Shaymiah Bailey as she made an impact in Mount Tabor's last game. She dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Bailey has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last ten times she's played. Brooke Cilento was another key player, putting up seven points and five rebounds.

Mount Tabor's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for R.J. Reynolds, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

R.J. Reynolds lost to Mount Tabor on the road by a decisive 54-37 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bailey, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 boards. Now that R.J.
