Softball Recap: Mineral County's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

While Mineral County didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Tonopah Muckers by a score of 8-4 on Saturday. The eight-run effort marked the Serpents' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Caitlynn Sanchez was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Raeane Johnson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

The win keeps Mineral County at an undefeated 5-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 15.8 runs this season. As for Tonopah, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Coming up, Mineral County will be playing at home against Wells at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wells has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.63 runs per game on average), something Mineral County will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Tonopah, they are taking a road trip to challenge Mountain View Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
