Soccer Game Preview: Amundsen vs. Jones

The Amundsen Vikings will challenge the Jones Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Amundsen's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Hancock. Marlowe Buchanan was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jones). They put the hurt on Northside with a sharp 8-0 win on Saturday. Jones have beaten Northside the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Northside has come to flipping the script.

The victory made it two in a row for Amundsen and bumps their season record up to 2-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those two contests. As for Jones, the victory got them back to even at 2-2-2.

Amundsen might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Jones in their previous meeting back in May of 2016. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
