Baseball Recap: Westerville North Has No Trouble Against Reynoldsburg

Westerville North never let their opponents score on Friday. Everything went their way against the Reynoldsburg Raiders as they made off with a 15-0 win. Considering the Warriors have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Caleb Williams looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Westerville North let Austin Heminger and Jacob Knight run wild. Heminger got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Knight went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most runs Heminger has posted since back in April. Thomas Mercurio was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Westerville North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Westerville North is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Reynoldsburg, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westerville North will host Dublin Coffman at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Reynoldsburg, they will challenge Central Crossing at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
