Volleyball Game Preview: Douglas Bearcats vs. Newcastle Dogies

Douglas has gone 9-1 against Newcastle recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bearcats will host the Dogies at 5:00 p.m. Douglas is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

On Saturday, Douglas made easy work of Burns and carried off a 3-0 win.

Douglas was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-20.

Oakley Moore was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 16 digs and one assist. Those 16 digs gave her a new career-high. Macie Baker also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Meanwhile, Newcastle hadn't done well against Torrington recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Dogies had just enough and edged out the Trailblazers 3-2.

Newcastle was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-27, 14-25, 25-21, 16-14.

Douglas' victory bumped their record up to 24-7. As for Newcastle, their win bumped their record up to 8-15.

Everything went Douglas' way against Newcastle in their previous meeting last Friday, as Douglas made off with a 3-0 victory. Do the Bearcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dogies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
