Basketball Game Preview: Hagerman Pirates vs. Murtaugh Red Devils

The Hagerman Pirates will take on the Murtaugh Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Murtaugh took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Hagerman, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Hagerman beat Sun Valley Community 54-50. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Hagerman got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jace Leavitt out in front who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave Leavitt a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Casen Knight, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards.

Hagerman was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They are 8-2 when they've passed the ball that well.

Meanwhile, Murtaugh unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Valley by a score of 44-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Red Devils have suffered since February 5, 2025.

Murtaugh's loss dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Hagerman, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Hagerman came up short against Murtaugh when the teams last played last Wednesday, falling 53-45. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
