League recap: Pilot Point rises in state rank

2A-1 Region II District 5 recap September 10, 2013

Pilot Point moved up to 519 from 595 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A-1 Region II District 5. The Bearcats climbed the ranks as a result of besting Lindsay 43-7.

Pilot Point took down the Knights 43-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Rheyce Childress and Jake Parker gave Callisburg a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Childress threw for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Parker ran for 131 yards. Teammate Eli Hollandsworth added to the ground attack by rushing for 51 yards.

Childress and Parker gave the Wildcats a balanced attack through the air and ground last week.

Dalton Stidham was the best wideout in the league this week as Boyd fell to Palmer. Stidham tallied 3 receptions for 63 yards. Fino Cardona helped Boyd's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 43 yards.

Parker was the most successful running back in the league this week.

Childress put up the best numbers through the air as Callisburg defeated Valley View. Childress' favorite target this week was Gage Oppel, who caught 3 passes for 55 yards.

Whitesboro's Kyle Lynn and Cody Ford have formed a dream team this season, leading 2A-1 Region II District 5 in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Lynn has thrown for 195 yards this season, while Ford has 7 catches for 190 yards. Cardona from the Yellowjackets leads the league in rushing with 289 yards.

Rob Best's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 43 points on Lindsay.
