Basketball Recap: Morse Takes a Loss

After flying high against Wiscasset last Wednesday, Morse came back down to earth. The Morse Shipbuilders were beaten by the Oceanside Mariners 66-33 on Friday. The Shipbuilders have struggled against the Mariners recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Aubrianna Hoose continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Oceanside, dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Hoose has scored at least a third of Oceanside's points. Another player making a difference was Grace Mackie, who went 5 of 10 en route to 14 points.

Morse's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-10. As for Oceanside, they pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Morse will host Maine Central Institute at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oceanside, they will venture away from home to face off against Mt. Ararat at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oceanside is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season.
