Softball Recap: Montcalm Comes Up Short

Montcalm had lost five straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it six. They lost 13-0 to the Cross Lanes Christian Warriors. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Generals' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Cross Lanes Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6. 13 seems to be a good number for they as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

For Cross Lanes Christian's part, Elliet Malcomb was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Malcomb was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Jordan Ellison was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jenna Naramore, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cross Lanes Christian beat Montcalm by a score of 13-6 later that day.
