There's no place like home for Martin County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the South Fork Bulldogs on Thursday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.
Brealyn White made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. White was even better at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
In other batting news, Kalei Bertke was incredible, going 4-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Garcia, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Martin County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Martin County's record now sits at 10-7. As for South Fork, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.
Martin County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-2 defeat against Cardinal Gibbons on the 11th. As for South Fork, they will head out on the road to face off against Morningside Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
