Softball Game Preview: Rochester Rockets vs. Olympia Spartans

The Rochester Rockets will head out on the road to take on the Olympia Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rochester will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Rochester is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Highland on Tuesday as they made off with a 22-0 win. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Olympia's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Williamsville by a score of 7-6. Spartans fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bullets since on Tuesday.

Rochester pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.4 runs over those games. As for Olympia, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-3-1.

Rochester skirted past Olympia 7-6 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Do the Rockets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
