Baseball Recap: Fort Lauderdale Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against South Plantation, Fort Lauderdale was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They never let the Northeast Hurricanes get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. With that victory, the Flying L's brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Jack Lynch tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has become a key player for Fort Lauderdale: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 1-6-1 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jackson Hirsch, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexander Melachrino, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Fort Lauderdale's win bumped their record up to 3-7-1. As for Northeast, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Fort Lauderdale wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 6-1 victory against McArthur on the 13th. As for Northeast, they have also already played their next matchup, a 15-0 win against Stranahan on the 11th.
