Football Game Preview: Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes vs. Fort Dorchester Patriots

Ashley Ridge hasn't had much luck against Fort Dorchester recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Swamp Foxes will take on the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Ashley Ridge has given up an average of 26.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Friday, Ashley Ridge came up short against Carolina Forest and fell 40-27.

Although Ashley Ridge took the loss, they still got scores from Ryan Campbell, Stephen Jefferson, and Julian Whitfield.

Ashley Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jefferson and Whitfield. Jefferson is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Fort Dorchester's offense. They were dealt a 40-0 defeat at the hands of White Knoll on Friday. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Timberwolves recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Fort Dorchester's loss dropped their record down to 2-3. As for Ashley Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-3.

Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Ashley Ridge has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 251.2 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Fort Dorchester, though, as they've been averaging only 86.6 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?

Ashley Ridge was able to grind out a solid victory over Fort Dorchester when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 48-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Swamp Foxes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
