Baseball Recap: Rye Takes a Loss

Lamar hit Rye with a six-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Thunderbolts came up short against the Thunder, falling 15-7. The loss continues a trend for the Thunderbolts in their meetings with the Thunder: they've now lost nine in a row.

Branson Burbidge made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Wyatt Scheid also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Rye now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Lamar, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Rye will take on Monte Vista at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Thunderbolts will need to watch out since the Pirates have now posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups. As for Lamar, they will face off against Burlington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunder's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
