Volleyball Recap: Pleasant Hope Comes Up Short

Pleasant Hope had taken Conway down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Pirates fell just short of the Bears by a score of 3-2. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Pleasant Hope actually scored more points across those five sets (107-96), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-21, 14-25, 26-24, 15-12.

When it comes to explaining why Pleasant Hope lost, don't look at Loraine Arciniegas. Despite the final result, she had 16 digs and three aces. With that strong performance, Arciniegas is now averaging an impressive 10.1 digs per game. Kendall Martin also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.

Pleasant Hope has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7-3 record this season. As for Conway, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.

Pleasant Hope has already played their next game (against Varsity Opponent), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Conway also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Sparta.
