Baseball Recap: Palmetto Ridge Comes Up Short

Palmetto Ridge easily dispatched Lehigh last Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Bears fell just short of the First Baptist Academy Lions by a score of 7-5 on Thursday. The Bears were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Bryce Obrian was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Tommy Cox made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Palmetto Ridge is 2-1 when Cox posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

Palmetto Ridge now has a losing record of 9-10. As for First Baptist Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.

Palmetto Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 8-6 win against Fort Myers on the 4th. As for First Baptist Academy, they have also already played their next game, an 8-0 victory against Golden Gate on the 4th.
