Baseball Recap: Mariner Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

There's no place like home for Mariner, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Cypress Lake Panthers on Wednesday as Mariner made off with a 10-3 win. The Tritons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Jael Lawton looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dominic Bent was excellent, scoring four runs and stealing a base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colin Raftery, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Mariner's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Cypress Lake, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Coming up, Mariner will take on Port Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Port Charlotte's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Mariner's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cypress Lake, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 6-1 victory against Lely on the 24th.
