Soccer Game Preview: Pius X vs. Bennington

The Pius X Thunderbolts will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against the Bennington Badgers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Pius X fell victim to Gretna and their airtight defense on Saturday. They fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 1-0. That's two games in a row now that Pius X have lost by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Bennington got the win against Gross Catholic on Saturday by a conclusive 8-3. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 5-1.

Bennington's offense was hitting Gross Catholic from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Austin Kaiser led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Bennington has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored ten goals over those two matchups. As for Pius X, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
