Preview: Phoenix Pirates vs. Yreka Miners
Phoenix is 3-0 against Yreka since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Phoenix Pirates will be staying on the road to face off against the Yreka Miners at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Phoenix knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Yreka likes a good challenge.
Phoenix posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They blew past South Umpqua, posting a 64-36 win on the road.
Meanwhile, Yreka's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Lassen by a score of 53-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Yreka has suffered yet this season.
Phoenix is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Yreka, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 6-12.
Phoenix was able to grind out a solid victory over Yreka when the teams last played back in December of 2022, winning 54-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Phoenix since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
