Football Recap: St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Comes Up Short

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were outmatched by Saint James and fell 35-0. While losing is never fun, St. Stephen's & St. Agnes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 216th in Virginia, while Saint James is ranked 61st in Maryland).

Anthony Youngblood threw for 75 yards on eight of 18 attempts. Walker Ferry was his top target, picking up 43 receiving yards.

As for Saint James, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

A big part of Saint James' victory came down to the chemistry between Jayden Yates and his top target Marcello Anderson. Yates rushed for 83 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries while Anderson rushed for 180 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. What's more, Yates racked up 70.5 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Stephen's & St. Agnes will welcome Potomac School at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Saint James, they will be playing at home against Wyoming Seminary College Prep at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
