Wyatt Bond Goes Supernova in Lamar Loss
Starting off the list is Lamar's Wyatt Bond, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Bond threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rushing yards.
If history really does repeat itself, Bond might just drop another big game when he faces off against East Rankin Academy on Friday. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Bond saw the Patriots), he threw for 203 yards and four touchdowns while completing 88.2% of his passes.

Matthan Weaver Delivers Best Performance of Season
Leake Academy was led to victory by Matthan Weaver, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Weaver's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 105 receiving yards dating back to last season. He also hauled in two receiving touchdowns, which is notable because Leake Academy is 5-1 when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.
The victory was the third in a row for Leake Academy, bringing their record for this year to 6-3. Weaver and Leake Academy will welcome Simpson Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

George Wilcox Makes It Two for Leake Academy
Keeping Weaver company is George Wilcox, a fellow Leake Academy player. He threw for 343 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. His passing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 315 passing yards dating back to last season.
Wilcox is probably looking forward to his next game, a road matchup against Simpson Academy on Friday. Wilcox threw for 376 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes the last time he and the Cougars duked it out back in October of 2023.

Brayden Welch Turns in Another Game with at Least Five Total Tackles
Another Leake Academy player making an appearance on this list is Brayden Welch. He wasn't messing around on Friday, making 12 total tackles (1.0 for loss). The match was his seventh straight with five or more total tackles dating back to last season.
On the season, Welch has averaged 7.7 total tackles per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after nine games last season, he was only averaging 0.67 total tackles per game.

Big Game from Kerley As Lamar Fell 35-34
The second Lamar player making an appearance here is Kellan Kerley, and for good reason. He rushed for 33 yards and two touchdowns.
Lamar and East Rankin Academy are set to duel on Friday. The matchup will pit Kerley up against the Patriots' star rusher Brandon Loper. With so much talent on the field, fans are surely in for an exciting game. The only thing left to see is who brings home the W.
