Baseball Recap: West Point Takes a Loss

West Point was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 9-2 to the Starkville Yellowjackets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Green Wave of the 16-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Jermaine Elliot made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

West Point's loss dropped their record down to 8-20. As for Starkville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

West Point will venture away from home to square off against Noxubee County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Starkville, they will host New Hope at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
