Softball Recap: Harker Comes Up Short

Cupertino hit Harker with a six-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pioneers. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Pioneers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Raeanne Li spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Joy Hu was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Michael Harley, who went 2-for-5 with two runs.

Harker's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Cupertino, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-15.

Looking ahead, Harker will be playing at home against Santa Clara at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bruins have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. Cupertino does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
