Softball Recap: Fremont Gets the Win

The third road match was the charm for Fremont, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They blew past the Monta Vista Matadors 17-3 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Firebirds in their matchups with the Matadors: they've now won six in a row.

Charlene Hiek made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Hiek was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Natalie Kim was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jiyah Caban, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Fremont's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2.
