Basketball Recap: Chase Wallace's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Valley View over Bellbrook

Valley View has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 66-57 to the Bellbrook Golden Eagles on Tuesday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chase Wallace, who went 5-for-9 en route to 12 points and four steals. Those 12 points gave Wallace a new career-high. Wyatt Burkett also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Valley View's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Bellbrook, they pushed their record up to 12-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Valley View will square off against Carlisle at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Carlisle will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Valley View surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bellbrook, they will take on Franklin at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Bellbrook knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Franklin likes a good challenge.
