Preview: Coastal Academy Stingrays vs. Foothills Christian Knights
The Coastal Academy Stingrays will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Foothills Christian Knights at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Coastal Academy will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
With a playoff game on the line, Coastal Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. They managed a 48-44 win over San Pasqual Academy. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Coastal Academy found their leader in underclassman Cody Terpstra, who rushed for 142 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Asher Benner and his 118 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Coastal Academy's win.
Meanwhile, even though San Diego Jewish Academy scored an imposing 36 points two weeks ago, Foothills Christian still came out on top. Foothills Christian blew past San Diego Jewish Academy 57-36. With Foothills Christian ahead 43-22 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Kameron Brown was his usual excellent self, rushing for 253 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per carry. Brown has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last six times he's played. Ben Hernandez was another major influence, as he rushed for 137 yards and ran in a TD.
Another reason for the win was Foothills Christian's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Logan Hamilton and Hunter Hamilton who racked up four sacks between them.
Their wins bumped Coastal Academy to 6-5 and Foothills Christian to 7-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Coastal Academy has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 173.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Foothills Christian struggles in that department as they've been even better at 312.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
