Basketball Recap: Herriman Takes Down Riverton in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Herriman rose to the challenge on Friday. Everything went their way against the Riverton Silverwolves as they made off with a 75-53 victory. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Carlo Mulford was his usual excellent self, putting up 28 points along with six assists and six boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cale Barclay, who posted 16 points and eight boards.

Several Silverwolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Blake Robbins, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Evan Berrett, who had 14 points and six assists.

Herriman pushed their record up to 22-2 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points over those games. As for Riverton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season.

Herriman will face off against Lehi at 11:10 a.m. on Monday. One thing working in Lehi's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups. Riverton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
