Volleyball Recap: Sickles Comes Up Short

Sickles was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars. If the Gryphons were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Jaguars when the teams met back in September of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Amaya Robinson paced Sickles' offense, picking up seven kills. Robinson got some help from Ava Montagna and her four assists. Robinson also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Gladyanne Lasanta, each putting up two.

Sickles' defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Academy of the Holy Names, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Sickles wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against Bishop McLaughlin Catholic on the 20th. As for Academy of the Holy Names, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Newsome on the 20th.
