The Orofino Maniacs will head out on the road to challenge the St. Maries Lumberjacks at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Orofino is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 14.3 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Orofino got the win against Kellogg by a conclusive 25-4. Considering the Maniacs have won ten matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Orofino got a massive performance out of Taylor Burrowes, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Burrowes a new career-high. Livia Johnson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Orofino always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, St. Maries had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 11-10 W against the Bulldogs.
Addilynn Turner was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Averie Baird, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Orofino and bumps their season record up to 12-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for St. Maries, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Orofino has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Maries struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Orofino skirted past St. Maries 8-6 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Maniacs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
