Volleyball Game Preview: Newcomb Skyhawks vs. Zuni Thunderbirds

Newcomb hasn't had much luck against Zuni recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Skyhawks will head out to face off against the Thunderbirds at 6:00 p.m. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Newcomb came up short against Crownpoint on Thursday, falling 3-0.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Zuni duked it out with Thoreau on Thursday. The Thunderbirds lost 3-0 to the Hawks. The loss continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their meetings with the Hawks: they've now lost six in a row.

Zuni took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-11, 25-16.

Newcomb's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Zuni, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.

Newcomb couldn't quite get it done against Zuni when the teams last played back in October as they fell 3-1. Can the Skyhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
