Football Recap: Minersville Battlin' Miners vs. Williams Valley Vikings

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Minersville couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They came up short against the Williams Valley Vikings on Saturday, falling 56-35. The Battlin' Miners haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Minersville lost, don't look at Dante Carr. Despite the final result, he rushed for 144 yards and one TD while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 222 yards and three touchdowns. Carr also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making four total tackles (0.5 for loss). Derek Derenzo was another key player, gaining 122 total yards and two touchdowns.

Williams Valley was led to victory by Fletcher Thompson and Brady Shomper.
