Baseball Recap: Hidalgo Takes a Loss

Hidalgo was the 7-1 winner over Rivera when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Hidalgo Pirates lost 7-1 to the Rivera Raiders on Thursday. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hidalgo saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Uriel Olvera, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave Olvera a new career-high in hits (two).

Hidalgo's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Rivera, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.

Coincidentally, Hidalgo and Rivera will both be playing Robstown the next time they take the field. Hidalgo will head out to face Robstown at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, while Rivera will play them later in the day, at 3:45 p.m.
