Preview: Spanish Fork Dons vs. Orem Tigers
Spanish Fork is 0-9 against Orem since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Spanish Fork Dons will be playing at home against the Orem Tigers at 7:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Spanish Fork has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Orem will arrive with seven straight victories.
Spanish Fork suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 84-48 loss at the hands of Timpview. While losing is never fun, Spanish Fork can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Timpview is ranked 18th).
Meanwhile, even though Cedar Valley scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, Orem still came out on top. Orem took their contest against Cedar Valley 68-57.
Spanish Fork has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Orem, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
Spanish Fork suffered a grim 70-50 defeat to Orem when the teams last played on January 5th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Orem's Jax Allen, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
