Baseball Recap: Chouteau-Mazie Takes a Loss

Chouteau-Mazie was the 10-5 winner over Colcord when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Chouteau-Mazie Wildcats lost 20-8 to the Colcord Hornets on Thursday. The Wildcats' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Seth Meyers was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Lucas Grossman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Tayler Applegate was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Chouteau-Mazie's record now sits at 2-5. As for Colcord, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-0.

Looking ahead, Chouteau-Mazie will square off against Hennessey at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Colcord, they will head out on the road to square off against Quapaw at 12:00 p.m. on Monday.
