Baseball Recap: Archbishop Ryan Takes a Loss

Archbishop Ryan was the 4-0 winner over Archbishop Carroll when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Raiders and Ragdolls fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 2-1 on Monday.

Jake Marchesano was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Archbishop Ryan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dave Perez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Archbishop Ryan's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Archbishop Carroll, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Archbishop Ryan is set to face off against their familiar foe Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Archbishop Carroll will challenge rival Roman Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
