Softball Recap: Wayne County Wildcats vs. Adamsville Cardinals
Wayne County had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 3-5 to make it four. They lost 7-0 to the Adamsville Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 last Monday.
As for Adamsville, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-8 record. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.
For Adamsville's part, not much got past Hayley Brewer, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep Wayne County off the board.
At the plate, Lillie Ward and Layla Howard did most of the damage at the plate: Ward went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Howard went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits Howard has posted over her last six matchups.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wayne County will face off against Collinwood on Tuesday. As for Adamsville, they will take on Jackson South Side at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.29 runs per game on average), something the Cardinals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
