Baseball Game Preview: Quincy Blue Devils vs. Moline Maroons

Quincy hasn't had much luck against Moline recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Blue Devils will challenge the Maroons at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Quincy has four straight victories, Moline has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Quincy's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Pittsfield.

Quincy got a great performance from Noah Wells as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 5.2 innings pitched. Wells also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Blue Devils are 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Quincy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Day, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. Those two runs gave Day a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Moline didn't have quite enough to beat Normal University on Saturday and fell 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Maroons have lost by just one run.

Quincy's record now sits at 6-10. As for Moline, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Quincy couldn't quite finish off Moline in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
